VOY Advises Planet A on Investment in The Landbanking Group

VOY lawyer Johannes Steinacher has supported Planet A on their investment in the eco-fintech The Landbanking Group as part of an USD 11M Seed Round.

The Landbanking Group has secured USD 11 million in its seed financing round led by BonVenture. In addition to Planet A, 4P Capital, Vanagon, the SUN Institute of the Deutsche Post Foundation, angel investors and family offices like André Hoffmann, Prince Maximilian of Liechtenstein, Alexa Firmenich, Jan-Hendrik Goldbeck, and Fabian Strüngmann invested in the Munich startup founded by Dr. Sonja Stuchtey and Prof. Martin Stuchtey.

Based on the idea that nature should be treated as a critical infrastructure, the company intends to establish nature equity as a new asset class: the cooling effect of forests, the flood prevention characteristics of wetlands and the carbon sequestration abilities of soil will be understood and treated as services with a defined economic value. To this end it has launched its platform Landler.io that allows both sellers and buyers of nature services such as carbon removal, water storage, soil regeneration, or biodiversity protection to open natural capital accounts.

About The Landbanking Group

Landler.io is the first management and investment platform for natural capital (biodiversity, carbon, soil, water). The platform links earth observation, digital in-situ data, machine learning, and decentralized ledger technology to assess every track of the planet and give it a “natural capital account”. That account serves as an underlying for the issuance of so-called nature equity contracts. These contracts qualify as balance-sheet grade assets and are attractive for agri-food, energy, resource, or infrastructure companies, and also increasingly for insurance providers and financial institutions.
